Michelle malkin brings this story to the front headlines.

This young Lt is disobeying a lawful order and close to being a deserter.

He deserves to be court martialed and used as an example to others. The Military depends on Discipline, without it would fail to protect the USA and be completely useless.

This reminds me of the first Gulf War.

I was in the position to lead a group of 30 Airmen when the war started and my fear at that moment was how would I enforce discipline in the group to protect others. Why was this a concern?

Because at the time I was stationed at Hanscom AFB in the BOWELS of Liberal Massachusetts and even though I was Active Duty not reserve we had a problem with Officers and Civilians undermining the discipline of the enlisted men and NCO authority over them.
I had seen many times when a NCO gave a lower ranking airman a direction that the Airman would reply say please first… Seriously!!!!!

So my fear was if I got to Iraq and one of these fools pull this crap at a critical moment how would I handle it and uphold my responsibility to protect the other 29 airmen under my direction….. Then the answer came to me….

Easy, I’d shoot the son-of-a-bitch in the leg and send him to medivac. Problem solved! Believe me I am dead serious. It is how I put my mind at ease in anticipation of a discipline breakdown.
Some Capt or Col needs to straighten this Lt. out or better yet let a Senior NCO clue him in….just 5 minutes.
